Toddler Craft Idea: Glitter Pumpkins for Autumn (Tutorial)

Toddler crafts can be hard to find! I wanted to do something with my son to celebrate fall and make a decoration that we could keep out for the season. These glitter pumpkins are perfect because your child can just play with the materials.

How to Make A Glitter Pumpkin

To do this craft without going crazy, try to do it in a place that you can get messy. I put my son outside in a stained onesie on a blanket. We also had a clear path through to the bathtub after he was done playing with the leftover glitter.

Time Required: 30 Minutes

Cost: Minimal

Tools: Sponge Brush

Materials:

Step 1: Add Modge Podge

I poured about two tablespoons of modge podge onto a paper plate. To get my toddler started, I showed him how to dip the brush in the modge podge and put some on the pumpkin.

Then, I let him spread it as he liked. He got a little bored after doing the top half. So, we moved onto the glitter.

Step 2: Sprinkle Glitter

Next, I opened the container of glitter. I showed him how to sprinkle it but, that probably wasn’t necessary.

I held the pumpkin up for him so that he could get the sides.

Step 3: Dry Thoroughly

After he was done with the glitter, I scooped up the pumpkin and placed it on a shelf to dry. I left it overnight in case there were any thick glue clumps.

Make Your Own Glitter Pumpkins

There isn’t a “right” way to do this craft. It’s open to the whims of your toddler. That’s what I love about it.
