This craft is so simple, I’m surprised I didn’t think of it sooner. I’ve kept different plants in these terra cotta pots over the years. Lately, I’ve been looking to put them in my office where there is little natural light.
Supplies: Air Plant Pick (Hobby Lobby), Stones, Floral Foam, and a container.
When I saw these realistic fake air plants, I knew they would look great with the pots. They fit that natural vibe.
How to Pot Fake Air Plants
Potting fake air plants is an easy, cost-effective way to use an old container. Depending on where you find your supplies, you can probably do this project for less than $10.

Tools: Scissors
Materials:
- Faux Air Plant (source)
- Container
- Floral Rocks
- Floral Foam
You might already have some of these simple supplies in your craft cabinet.
Step 1: Cut Floral Foam to fit your container
The foam only needs to be large enough to hold the air plant wire, about 2 inches deep.
Step 2: Insert Air Plant
After you trim the wire, stick the air plant into the foam. It should feel secure. Try to keep the bottom of the actual plant slighly below the rim of the container
Step 3: Fill with Rocks
Fill the rest of the container with rocks. Start by wedging rocks into the sides to keep the foam in place. Then fill up to the top of the container, all the way up to the rim. When you’re done, it should look like the air plant is resting on top of the rocks.
Make Your Own
If you have any old containers, like candle holders or teacups, try filling them with these cute fake air plants. They make an easy gift for an office or bathroom where the lack of natural daylight might harm a real plant.
