Whenever I photograph the sky, I plan to digitally enhance it. If you’re focused on a subject, the play of the sun’s light against the clouds and the blue never looks the same through the lens as it does to my eyes. Sometimes, I make it dramatic, over-emphasizing the deepest purples to create a vibrant cerulean. In other images, I soften the colors and shift the tones, making them look like cotton candy streaked across the sky.

In a world where it feels like the sky is falling on us with every out-of-control event, I need a reason to look up.
