Previously, I posted about how Taylor Swift’s re-release of “Red” rekindled the discussion about unapologetic femininity. That controversy around her re-recording of masters and the conversation about being allowed to love her work, made me listen to her entire discography in order of release. I was aware of her work and her profile only as someone who pays attention to trends and media, not as a fan. Now, I’m revisiting all of her albums to pull color palettes based on her cover art.

Taylor Swift

These playful, tropical colors are perfectly 2000s.

Fearless and Fearless Taylor’s Version

The sepia treatment on her record echos the golden tones of the original album.

Speak Now and Speak Now Taylor’s Version

Both albums offer rich purple tones with complementary shades.

Red and Red Taylor’s Version

Fall-inspired, romantic brown tones come together with pops of red.

1989 and 1989 Taylor’s Version

Nostalgic pastels connect both of these palettes.

Reputation

These inky blacks strip the visuals down and give it an edge.

Lover

Is there anything more 2010s than the colors on the Lover album cover?

Folklore

Softer than Reputation, these gray tones feel like old film.

Evermore

These nature-inspired, rustic tones create a feeling of warmth.

Midnights

After-party colors come to life with these desaturated, dark tones.

The Tortured Poets Department

Finally, this upcoming album’s art offers luminescent, sepia shades.
