I said, “These outfits are starring in a daytime show where they murder their cheating husbands.” File that under captions I didn’t put on my client’s Instagram.
I fell in love with these three evenly matched hues from the moment I saw them on mannequins. File that under outfits I would never wear.
I enjoyed them as I pulled the punchy tones for the color combination above. File that under colors I probably would use quite sparingly in a design.
My life isn’t particularly sultry or silky. I lead a linen, denim, and jersey knit life. The colors for this are mostly dappled heather gray, faded indigo, and dingy white. My clothes, towels, furniture, bags, walls, really my everything has a lived-in look with those lived-in colors.
But, my art takes the shape of fantasies. This week, I’ve paired a lot of lavendar with cinnamon brown. I pulled strong mustard yellow as a background for pumpkin orange. Blue-Black jumps from lines of letters.
And I really liked those three dramatic dresses.
