I was talking to one of my clients lately about quilted products and consumer behavior for Fall 2023. This visual style and material haven’t reached their peak yet as searches are still climbing on Google.
The quilted trend, and patchwork styles, resurfaced in 2020. The look rode the wave of stay-home, stay-alive, stay-real that we embraced. Grandma’s pajamas but, make it chic.

This season, the silhouettes are slightly sharper.
It’s not just a traditional or country look. Boho chic variations are just as popular as traditional quilt patterns. In fact, it’s become a hot style in metro areas.
From the runway down to the average consumer, quilted fashion is having a renaissance.
Obviously, the iconic Chanel and Marc Jacobs bags will dominate traffic during the holidays. So, if you have a quilted product, take that into consideration as you plan keywords.
What are Google Trends?
Google Trends is a useful search feature. The tool charts how frequently a given search term is entered into Google’s search engine. This is relative to the site’s total search volume over a period of time. You can use it for comparative keyword research and to discover event-triggered spikes in keyword search volume.
How does it work?
Visit the tool and see what searches are currently trending. You can dig into any topic for more information.
For your specific business, you can enter a search term into the search box at the top of the tool. It will showhow search volume has varied for that term over time. It also shows by location. You can adjust the location, time frame, category or industry, and type of search.
Google search trends data can be very useful for marketers because you can monitor spikes in terms related to your business.
How to Use it for Marketing
You can use the data found in Google Trends for several different marketing purposes:
- Paid search: Google Trends data can be used to inform your seasonal campaigns. It helps with cost-per-click planning. In addition, you can use Google Trends to find irrelevant trending terms you need to set as negative keywords. Otherwise, you might be bidding on a spike that is unrelated to your business.
- SEO and content marketing: You can use Google Trends to learn what people in your target market are searching. Writing about trending topics can help drive traffic to your site.
- Ad creative: See topics are currently capturing the public imagination. Referencing a trending topic in your marketing campaigns can increase engagement.
In this review, I was tracking terms related to quilted materials to see how quickly it’s been climbing.
