I started writing this post at the beginning of February — is that an affirmation or a manifestation? Regardless, it kept me focused on how to make the most of the 29 days before me. As quickly as I planned it, it seemed to pass.
Back to Heath and Happiness
Looming on the calendar, I was waiting on February medical tests to confirm that my November health issue wouldn’t return. I’m pleased to say, that I’m back to normal — and in the gym gaining back some of that lost muscle.
Talking about this challenge made me feel vulnerable. As a woman in business, it feels like people are always searching for weak spots. Admitting to a large health concern isn’t my style. I prefer privacy. But, it made me noticeably absent from an important event and required some temporary adjustments to my agency’s workflow.
On the plus side, I’m pleased with how I handled it. We didn’t miss any deadlines and my extra downtime gave me a chance to do some administration and planning.
A New Look
My new ads in Central Virginia Home Magazine put a deadline on the website refresh I had been putting off. I’m sure it doesn’t look that different to the casual observer. But, I was glad to finish key changes and content that had been on my list for months. My new rate sheets are the most important for new clients. You can also find new portfolio projects and testimonials from clients.
I also bought new glasses and changed my hair color — part of that creative reset I need every so often. Creatively, I feel almost like I’ve been doing a cleanse. Essentially, I’ve been organizing old files and archiving them — adding my favorites to my portfolio.
A Bright Helper
I’m honored that Rachel L. asked to do her college internship with The Shop Shop starting in February. We’ve worked together for over a year with Rachel filling a Marketing Assistant role. Now, I’m training her to help with campaign-related tasks — giving me a chance to see more of her creative and strategic abilities.
Looking forward
I’m getting ready to send out a mass email to clean up my contact list. I’ve never sent out one for The Shop Shop and I’m interested to see the response.
