Pink and Red Sale

By |2021-04-19T15:45:23-04:00July 1, 2019|Content Marketing|

I generated materials for a “Pink and Red Sale” for Spearman Artisanry, a boutique in Downtown Lynchburg, VA. For this project, we discussed the sales concept — a discount on all items that were pink or red. I worked with the owner, Jannett Spearman, to select several items to photograph for the digital campaign. I photographed the items, arranging them in a flat lay that included her branding. She used these materials on her Facebook, website, and email marketing to promote her in-store sale.     Project Background As a freelance client, I worked with Spearman Artisanry on [...]

The shelves are about 12" deep inside and can hold items like: Magazine file boxes Small laptops Cameras Pencil, Marker and paintbrush cups and all those little storage bins full of workspace necessities No matter what kind of work you are doing, those cabinets close over the organized chaos — leaving you with a simple stylish front. I have grown so attached to my own IVAR cabinet hack, that I've pulled together a list of leg ideas and design combinations that transform [...]

Pairing fonts isn’t all that tricky — you just need to focus on contrast and balance. For example, a script can look great with a serif or sans-serif font, as long as they are proportional in weight. However, taking the time to mix and match fonts can slow down a design project. That’s why I’ve put together a list of some easy font combinations that use free fonts. Great Font Combinations using Free Fonts There’s nothing worse than asking another designer what font they used and finding out it comes with a hefty price tag. Each of the examples below [...]

Virginia Commonwealth Games for Lynchburg Business Magazine

By |2021-04-19T17:48:00-04:00May 1, 2019|Content Marketing|

When Lynchburg Business Magazine asked me to enter the world of amateur sports, I didn’t know how deep the research would take me. I did a half dozen interviews, even though everyone didn’t provide a quote for the piece. Sorting through those stories and voices helped me understand the impact that the Virginia Commonwealth Games would have on the local economy. It’s been fun looking back at the article after the games wrapped up in 2019. Saving Time While Interviewing Seniors

By |2021-04-19T17:48:38-04:00May 1, 2019|Content Marketing|

Niche topics can seem hard for freelancers to tackle. You have to familiarize yourself with the audience’s needs quickly to ensure the article covers the appropriate ground. I prefer to interview someone who matches the article’s target demographic. I like to see what they already know and what questions they may have. This helps me find an angle more quickly — and saves time parsing through unnessary information. For this article, I spoke with a few seniors about their challenges. Then, I brought that feedback into my interview questions. Take the Headache Out of Managing Medications by Danielle Verderame Originally [...]
